Eken Magazine

October was packed with non-stop fun things to do and things don´t seem to be slowing down for November either. During October we saw some real daredevils at the awesome 24 MX International Supercross & Freestyle MX event at the Tele2 Arena. We prepared for that by watching the documentary 12 ó Clock Boys, known as “The Wire On The Wheels”. They use the same tools, it´s just a completely different world in focus. Stockholm had three different top festivals going on through out October that we attended, with the fun and bubbly Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival kicking off first. Stockholm Jazz was as popular as ever and as Stockholm Jazz festival´s Chairman of the Board Christina Jutterström said, the festival just keeps on growing all over the Stockholm with a huge international interest. Not to forget the fantastic three-day festival Stockholm Burlesque that was held this year around at three different venues with high-end entertaining extravagance show´s. Another show we saw was Stephen Merchants first stand-up in Stockholm. Read the review here.

We also kept up reviewing Stockholm´s burger joints. Recently we have tried Phils Burger, Prime Burger, Lily´s Burger and Bar Burger Café to name a few. We also started our hunt for the best Old Fashioned cocktails in Stockholm at Svartengrens  together with award winning Jenny Theolin from SoapBox & Sons London. And if that wasn’t enough we also visited Jenny´s first vernissage as a curator in Stockholm at Berns Salonger to see some vivid photographs by Mighty Boosh´s Bollo the Gorilla – Dave Brown. Read my review here.

Pop-duo POP CAMPAIGN produced an exclusive dreamy pop mix for Eken Magazine with their Songs For Stockholm soundtrack. Listen to the Stockholm Soundtrack and read the interview I did with them here. It would be great to see them perform live in Stockholm some time soon.

Eken Magazine also saw a few films at the cinema such as the brilliant Fury by David Ayer with Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman. United International Pictures (UIP SWEDEN) had a few early screenings with the latest Brazilian street drama Trash on show, and the American biographical drama film Foxcatcher, directed by Bennett Miller, starring Steve Carell who does an amazing performance as The Golden Eagle – John Du Pont, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo. November is the month of the film in Stockholm with the Stockholm Film Festival kicking off. Releases like Foxcatcher, Interstellar, Whiplash, Girlhood, Gentlemen, Mr Turner, The Imitation Game and Wolfcop will be screened.

For Halloween you can attend one Shockholm´s events in the city centre for your celebrations. If you think it is getting a bit dark why not read Belysningsboken by Torbjörn Eliasson (Roos & Tegnér) – A book about how you best light up indoors. Checkout my favourite picks of the month in Stockholm at What´s On Stockholm November 2014.
